My Current Favourite Things part 3

What it says on the tin – what I currently love:

♥ Having tea and cake after work at Drink, Shop & Do in King’s X, London. This isn’t current as I always love going there, but the other night I was there with Melanie K, sharing red velvet cake and talking about everything. Here’s our table, complete with a flat white and hot chocolates.

♥ These really cute Halloween hand santizers and this pumpkin cupcake candle from Bath & Body Works, in the country that loves the commericalism joy of Halloween, my home country, the USA! If anybody there wants to send me anything Halloween-y, or do a Halloween care package exchange I am so up for it!
♥ The new “Spooky” video by Skinny Girl Diet.

♥ The Space is Ace collective’s new line on MEOW. I especially love this astronaut necklace:

♥ The Manic Street Preachers’ back catalog, as I saw them last weekend in Hyde Park. My friend Jo and I were right in front and it was awesome, as always!

♥ Running. I’ve been running for over 2 years now, but I have a very love/hate relationship with it. I recently found a huge park near my work which is great for running during my lunch breaks, and I also have started going for runs in the evening with my husband. I’m actually enjoying the workout!
♥ The stationary section at Selfridges. I found myself in there again last night and I always want everything!!! This also goes for Artbox in Covent Garden. I think I have a thing for Japanese stationary. Also, at Selfridges they have every magazine I want, including Oh Comely and Betty, as well as a huge moleskine section.

♥ And last but definitely not least, this quote:
“Men really need to be engaged in feminist politics, or they’re going to be just as oppressed by patriarchy and these ideas of what it means to be ‘a man’ and masculinity that keep them in the whatever closet they CHOOSE to be in.”
-Laverne Cox, star of “Orange is the New Black”

I couldn’t agree more.

My Current Favourite Things part 2

Apologies for not posting as often. I just started a new job(!) and the first week has been pretty tiring, but I am really enjoying it there so far.

Anyway, besides working, these are some things I currently love. ♥

♥ The book Just Kids by Patti Smith. I devoured it last weekend and am praising it from the rooftops. Why didn’t I read this book earlier?? It’s such a good read and I got all nostalgic for New York.
♥ Iced frappe lattes at Caffe Nero. Honestly, now that it has gotten slightly cooler in London I’m not drinking them as often, but I sped through that Caffe Nero gift card that I got for my birthday!
♥ My painting class!! Yes, I have been taking a painting class at The Art Academy. I’m almost half-way through the course and really enjoying it. I’m convinced that my paintings in the next weeks will be much better than my current work – but these are some peppers I painted a couple weeks ago. Behold:

♥ The blog The Near-Sighted Owl. I love her writing and really love the design. Even though I’m not plus-sized, I love the body acceptance that just radiates from this fat-positive place.
♥ I also really love reading The Dainty Squid. I think almost all my London friends read her blog, but still posting it here as I am a huge fan of the pupdates and bunday (posts on her puppy and bunnies).
♥ Having high tea in Highgate with friends, and this photo I took of them.

So proud of the bovine milk jug!

♥ Daniel’s photo of the half-moon he took out of our window last night.
Melanie K’s article on the Curious art installment at West Norwood Cemetery at Wild Culture magazine It’s very informative!
♥ and lastly, something to cheer you up…..The Pet Collective’s parody of Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop”…Maltey Cyrus’ “We Can Bark”. It doesn’t hurt that my childhood dog looked exactly like the star of this video (sans the green paws). I dare you not to laugh:

If for some reason you can’t see the video, it’s here.

Happy Weekend!!

My Current Favourite Things part 1

♥ Debating with friends on whether Lee Miller was a feminist or not. Granted, she was successful at a time where women just got the right to vote, but she was sometimes reliant on men…and was best friends with Picasso….discuss.
♥ The new Primal Scream album! “It’s Alright. It’s OK” makes me dance.

♥ Icelandic band The Dead Skeletons – their music, Nonni’s watercolours and their channel DEAD TV.
My friend Alice’s blog post on our evening at Ms. Cupcake’s Book Launch Party. It really was that fun!! And Ms. Cupcake also inscribed my book. 🙂 Here is a bonus photo of me, Alice and our friends surrounded by vegan cakes, ice cream and cocktails:

♥ Teapigs’ “Super Fruit” Tea. I must be becoming British when fancy tea makes me happy. (Note: I never drank tea before moving here)
♥ Chai Lattes from Belle Amie. The more you like cinnamon, the more amazing they are.
♥ London riot grrl bands like Skinny Girl Diet and the still-new club night Bloody Ice Cream.

♥ This Tatty Devine Cherry Blossom necklace. My birthday is in July….ahem. Or if someone really has money to burn, there’s this large version of the Cherry Blossom necklace which I’m convinced I could rock!
♥ Hanging out with my baby nephew.
♥ My friend Maria’s backpack:

♥ This poster of Minneapolis by Albie Designs. All of her city posters are awesome.
♥ The idea that this woman got paid to raise geese as astronauts and put them in a moon analogue…watch the documentary!
♥ Random bubbles floating above the Thames…

♥ ….and thinking of upcoming travels with my husband. As much as I love the internet, I sometimes love being away from it too. xoxox
